83RD Anniversary Pearl Harbor Day – USS Utah Ceremony

The USS Utah Memorial Sunset Ceremony held every year on December 6th honors the loss of the USS Utah (AG-16) and 58 of her crew. Struck by two torpedoes, the ship capsized and sank within 12 minutes. As many as 49 of her crewmembers remain aboard the Utah to this day. This year In addition to the sunset ceremony, Gil Meyer USS Utah Survivor will be interred in the wreckage of the ship. Gil, a Chief Electronics Technician went on to serve throughout the Pacific War, including aboard the USS Detroit, which was present in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the Japanese surrender on Sept 2, 1945.
